Jeff Porro is a D.C.-based communications strategist who has written speeches for Kofi Annan and Jimmy Carter, among others. After years of research, Porro teamed with Hollywood screenwriter Robert Eisele to pen the script for “The Great Debaters,” about an African-American college debate team that defeated white teams in the Jim Crow-era South. Opening Christmas, it stars Denzel Washington.
